We appreciate your messages of concern regarding Hurricane Isaac. Robinson’s New Orleans office reopened yesterday, having sustained only minor damage. None of our lumber or flooring was damaged, though several employees’ homes were. Thankfully none flooded.
This August marks the eighth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which destroyed much of our home town of New Orleans and claimed over 1,800 lives. During those difficult times, everyone in our community came together to help each other rebuild. In the community of our family company, we established a relief fund for the worst-affected among our employees. Many of our friends, customers, vendors, colleagues, and supporters joined together to help our people get back on their feet. Your support in those dark days brought an overwhelming sense of light, hope, and courage. Your donations – both large and small – helped us to get through. We can never thank you enough.
As we reflect on all of the hardship and success of the past eight years, we remain grateful to those who made donations and to everyone who rallied to our support. Next year, Robinson Lumber Company will celebrate its 120th year of doing business in New Orleans. We look forward to many more years of success servicing the needs of our customers, strengthening ties with our vendors, and continuing our friendships with industry partners & colleagues.
We thank you for being a part of our community.
