NEW ORLEANS, LA Robinson Lumber Company (RLC), a leading importer and exporter of lumber, decking, and flooring, recently hosted a week-long, companywide meeting and retreat at the company's headquarters in New Orleans. Global team members traveled from numerous US states and several countries, including Belgium, Brazil, Honduras, the Netherlands, Thailand and Malaysia, to spend time together in New Orleans, where RLC held festive dinners, parties, trainings and team building exercises throughout the week.
The company meeting kicked-off with a parking lot party held on site at RLC headquarters. Team members new and old mingled and danced to a lively jazz band on a 250 square foot dance floor constructed from 25 sample boards of different types of Robinson solid hardwood and Pine flooring. Additional events included a teamwork seminar led by Eric Coryell, held offsite at the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music in the historic 9th Ward neighborhood. The Ellis Marsalis Center is a non-profit community music center that provides educational programs and housing assistance to local musicians. All out of town team members were encouraged to travel the week before the meeting, with many visiting suppliers, customers, and the company's facility in New Albany, Indiana.
The meeting also included many highlights and announcements such as the introduction of the company's Mission, Vision and Values statement, which was unveiled by the management team. With our recent growth, now is an important time to consolidate gains and integrate our global team, said Garner Robinson, RLC President. Everyone says that their people are the most important part of their success, but we like to think that we put our money where our mouth is by bringing everyone together like this. This was an important week for our global team.â€
At the company meeting, management also announced a new company structure organized around customers in North American and International Markets. Teamwork will continue to be a core component for RLC as the company moves into the second century of operation. RLC will continue to develop and nurture new talent, as evidenced by its international business internship program.
