Description
Royal Mahogany’s rich color and grain pattern is most similar to that of Honduras Mahogany. This species is an excellent choice for elegant interiors.
Color and Photo-sensitivity: Royal Mahogany is brown to reddish brown and is more uniform than many Brazilian exotic species. It will darken slightly with exposure to light.
Janka Hardness Rating: 1,220 lbs (553 kg.) By comparison, Northern Red Oak is rated at 1,290 lbs. (585 kg.)
Stability: Width movement expected in a 3” face from a one percent change in moisture content is between 0.003” and 0.008”. By comparison, Northern Red Oak’s value is 0.004” to 0.010”.
