Description
Brazilian Walnut is a strikingly rich exotic wood with hardness and durability among the highest of all timber worldwide.
Color and Photo-sensitivity: It ranges from olive brown to blackish with some pieces having a reddish tint. The color and graining vary substantially and is not affected by exposure to light.
Janka Hardness Rating: 3,680 lbs (1,669 kg.) By comparison, Northern Red Oak is rated at 1,290 lbs. (585 kg.)
Stability: Width movement expected in a 3” face from a one percent change in moisture content is between 0.004” and 0.010”. By comparison, Northern Red Oak’s value is 0.004” to 0.010”. Due to the dense grain, very dry environments may not be optimum for Brazilian Walnut.
Manufacturing Specifications: Moisture content is 6% to 8%. Weight is 4.2 lbs/Sqft
