Description
Brazilian Chestnut is yellow-brown to chocolate brown, tends to have streaks with lighter, more yellowish veins. Brazilian Chestnut possesses a medium to coarse texture with an interlocked grain. This stunning species is very durable and quite stable. Brazilian Chestnut has been well received in both commercial and residential applications.
Color and Photo-sensitivity: Brazilian Chestnut will darken over time and has rich colors from chocolate brown to light brown with fine and clear veins.
Janka Hardness Rating: 2,140 lbs (970 kg.) By comparison, Northern Red Oak is rated at 1,290 lbs. (585 kg.)
Stability: Width movement expected in a 3” face from a one percent change in moisture content is between 0.005” and 0.009”. By comparison, Northern Red Oak’s value is 0.004” to 0.010”.
